1 Samuel 17:47
“This assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear, for the battle belongs to the Lord”
There is a battle between good and evil in the USA. Some want no police, no punishment for looting, and destruction of historical statues, to name a few. As Christians in an increasingly worldly society, we feel that we must battle to open our schools and churches in all parts of the country. Some factions believe that we are no longer a “Christian nation.” They attempt to change our history to prove that we are a wicked, un-Christian country (see our Blog on “We the People”).
Signs of fear and evil are frequently on the media. The increases in the purchase of personal firearms “survival food,” and travel trailers are signs of fear that chaos and revolution are possible. What can we do? How can we pray against this fear and the future of our Christian nation?
Battle by Worshipping
There are some amazing worship songs that can help us in the battle over evil, injustice, and illness. Here are some of the songs that bring the most responses by listeners who are in a battle:
- Raise a Hallelujah by Jonathan and Melissa Helser (Bethel Music).
- Waymaker by Michael W. Smith at the Surrounded Experience in Nashville, TN, 2019 (featuring Vanessa Campagna and Madelyn Berry)—Live performance.
- See A Victory & Surrounded by Elevation Worship with Brandon Lake live from Praise Party, 2019.
Each of these live worship sets (also available on YouTube) tell us to first surround ourselves with Jesus (in praise and worship or whatever brings you closer to Him). Then, recognize that we should not wrestle with “flesh and blood, but against the principalities…rulers of the darkness of this age, against hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6: 12). In other words, the battle is a spiritual one, not just a worldly one. That’s why the apostle Paul continued in Ephesians 6 to suggest our weapons of spiritual warfare—use the “armor of God” to withstand evil, declare the true and righteous methods that are possible, ask the Lord to keep you in peace based on the gospel, promote salvation, and use the ultimate “sword of the Spirit”—the Word of God.
The Ultimate Weapon—Prayer
Finally, PRAYER is the answer as it says in The Message Bible (Ephesians 6:13-18):
“Prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your Brothers and Sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so no one falls behind or drops out.”
There are several prayer movements that you can join online as well as praying with family or friends. Pray for your city, state, and federal governments. Pray that the Christian heritage of America will NOT be destroyed. Pray for the coming federal election and protection against voting fraud. And the most important—Pray for a nation-wide revival that will bring more into the “light” of truth based on the gospel.
And we will be praying for you—our listeners! You are our encouragement!
